I started running as a knobbly-kneed nine year old; in fact as the fourth child in- line (and one of eight in total) and with the competition at home being pretty fierce, I was probably running not long after I learned to walk.
Being 'a runner' and having a few marathons under my belt now, I am often asked for advice about different aspects of running. "What shoes should I be wearing?" often comes up; "how do you look after your knees?" or "why do I feel so out of breath after only 20 seconds?"
Being asked the same questions over and over again, I decided to put everything into a book: 'All About Running, From zero to running hero; a beginner's guide to fitness after forty' (now available to buy on Amazon: HERE )
My hope is that my book will motivate and inspire everyone to pull on their running shoes and get outside, whether it is for regular walks, or setting a goal of being a healthier human being in a years time.
Why running?
My book delves into the many benefits of running for both our physical and mental health, as well as dispelling some of the running myths I often have quoted to me ("I'm too old / out of shape to start running now").
Broken into four parts, it includes advice on how to get started, even as an absolute beginner, as well as useful fuelling and nutrition tips.
The 'Notes and references' section builds on some of the ideas covered within the book (as well as covering all of the sources of information I used in my research); so be sure to give this a read too.
